Busy boards
Why is it that when I’m at my busiest, when my life is most littered with big projects, lots of tick marks to fulfill, and way too much shit on my to-do list that I decide to haphazardly throw another on?
Although in this case I got lucky and this idea fell into my husband’s lap. But he took it with finesse.
Little Miss Ada’s first birthday was coming up and I had a mountain of things I needed to do but suddenly like a flash of brilliant lightning I had an incredible idea - we need to make busy boards for her birthday!! I have always wanted to make one for Leif when he was a toddler but we never got around to it. So now we did!
But not just one but TWO. One for her and one for her little cousin Sawyer who ALSO turned one. I mean, if you’re already building one of something then two of something won’t stress you out more will it? Especially if they have the same deadline??
But as it turns out these busy boards actually ARE easier to make two at a time. Just ask my husband since I have no idea since I didn’t make them.
He bought some 3/4” particle board and used a 1/4” round over bit on a router to get the smooth edges.
Then he cut two holes. One was about 3” X 2” and the other was about 3” X 1.5”. This is where the plates go for the light switch and electrical plug.
I painted it. That was my contribution to this.
FYI. One 2 oz container of tole paint baaarely covers this board with one coat. But it was all it needed!
Oh and I also glued on the name. I used hot glue to spell it then used some clothing line rope to press it on. Way cheap and simple. Most of the items on here were from Walmart and came in 2-packs so it really wasn’t too much more expensive to make two.
The little silver mirror actually came from the dollar store! {its really plastic}
